The new study revealed that stress in childhood plays a major role in development of asthma. Scientists at the University of Otago School of Medicine and Health Sciences used the data of more than 18,000 men and women from around the world as a part of World Mental Health surveys. It is known that severe stress can aggravate asthma condition, but now it's the first time when there is an evidence of how early stressful events can influence the development of asthma. The study showed that such events as death of parent, physical abuse and depression may eventually lead to asthma.
