Bandage That Tracks the Healing Process

If you are a fitness enthusiast, you may have already faced the problem of knee injures. Usually these type of injures require weeks, before you can lead an active lifestyle again.

Scientists at Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA in Stuttgart came up with a new health gadget that can help patients and their doctors track the healing process of the knee injures and make necessary adjustments.

The innovative bandage has specially designed sensors that measure and record the movements of the joints. This helps to watch over the patient's movements and progress and record it for further evaluation. The bandage fits perfectly, so that the patient won't feel any discomfort during movements.

Specialists say that this system is not only useful for doctors, who can adjust the treatment, but also may encourage the patients, by showing their gradual improvements.

The Fraunhofer researchers plan to apply this technique to other parts of the body. The mobile joint monitoring bandage will be presented at the MEDTEC Europe trade show.
