Nanotechnology Helps to Create Viagra Patch

Aug 04, 2011
Egyptian scientists has developed a new way of delivering sildenafil citrate or commonly known as Viagra that will have certain benefits over the pills. The new transdermal delivery system uses nanocarriers that deliver the medication into the bloodstream faster and as a result the most wanted effect occurs faster as well.

Besides, the transdermal way of delivering Viagra may help men maintain erection longer and reduce the risk of some side-effects.

Earlier, scientists failed to develop another way of application simply because Viagra has low oil and water solubility, which makes it hard to be absorbed through the skin. Now, specialists from Alexandria University in Egypt managed to trap the famous drug inside a nano-emulsion this may soon lead to the production of Viagra patch.
