Babies that are born prematurely are at increased risk of various health problems that can have devastating consequences.

One of the most important things for a newborn baby is to make sure that the baby is kept warm enough, because the body temperature regulation is not fully developed in low birth and premature babies. In many hospitals you can find special incubators for this purpose. But not all people in the world have such an easy access to incubators.

Jane Chen, Linus Liang, Dr. Rahul Panicker, and Naganand Murty, former students of the Stanford University came up with the idea of developing a baby wrap called Embrace Infant Warmer that can save lives of millions of children.

The baby wrap looks like a small sleeping bag that helps keep babies' temperature warm and increase chances of survival in difficult circumstances. It is reusable, hypoallergenic wrap that has a sealed pouch that is heated with electric or non-electric unit and placed into the sleeping bag warmer. All that is needed is to heat the pouch and it will keep the necessary temperature for up to four hours. The material of the wrap absorbs extra heat, if the baby gets too hot or release heat if the baby gets too cold.

The concept itself is in the final stages of development and soon will be available in the developing countries.

Every parent knows how difficult is to make your child eat those veggies and beat the junk food addiction. In many cases, actions are much better than words, especially when you use a hi-tech way to persuade your child into eating healthier.

Count your peas is an iPad application developed by Design Seedling that is aimed at making healthy eating fun for children. This app uses interactive games and lots of useful information that help kids organize their eating better. The Count your peas app features a calculator to count servings, based on the Food Pyramid groups. Parents together with their children can view how much calories their food contains and how much they actually need to eat. They can find out the key recommendations on each food group to become nutritionally smarter.

There is also a variety of fun games and tools that makes the learning more entertaining, including the tic tac toe game with whole grain cereals or completing a dried bean mosaics.

Parents, expecting their first child, often want to know every detail of their baby's growth. The developers of the PreVue eTextile Device wanted to give parents the possibility to get familiar with baby's growth when it is still in the womb.

The PreVue created by Melody Shiue, an industrial designer of the University of New South Wales, that looks like a pregnancy belt, features a electronic textile screen with a specially designed ultrasonic layer that shows the image of the baby, baby's movements, kicks and smiles during its fetal development.

This innovative gadget concept was created to help parents bond with their child, making both parents, especially fathers see what's going on with their child even before it is born.

While this great device is not available yet, the idea of developing a device that makes "fetal visualization" so easy is incredible and quite difficult to implement.
