Kim and her colleagues conducted the study on mice and found that eggs require zinc and obtain a 50 percent increase in zinc content to become mature for fertilization. It appears that zinc is a key factor that helps the egg to fully develop and become fertilized later on.

The best natural sources of zinc are beef, oysters, lamb, turkey, chicken, salmon, milk, cheese, peanuts, whole grains, pumpkin seeds and others.
